Using Live Tracking

CrewNerd's Live Tracking feature allows you to share your current location and performance data with coaches, friends, or race spectators. Once enabled, CrewNerd relays your data through the internet where it can be viewed by anyone through their internet browser at crewnerd.com.

To get started, go to the Tracking screen in CrewNerd and enter your boat name, club name, and (optionally) a password. Anyone who configures the CrewNerd viewer with the same club name and password can then view data from all boats sharing the same configuration. If you aren't concerned about privacy, you can leave the password field empty.

Starting Live Tracking

Once your configuration information is set, you can turn on Live Tracking to begin transmitting data.

On iPhone, you can turn tracking on or off using the switch at the top of the Live Tracking screen. When Live Tracking is on, a red indicator will appear on the Tracking tab.

On Android, open the application menu and select "Start live tracking" (or "Stop live tracking"). When Live Tracking is on, an upward arrow will appear next to the Start/Stop button on the Row/Paddle screen.

Sharing with viewers

CrewNerd makes it easy for you to share your Live Tracking configuration with coaches and friends. Instead of giving them the club name and password, you can provide them with a special URL that will launch the Live Tracking viewer and initialize it automatically. You can share this URL in two ways:

  1. By scanning the QR code on the Live Tracking screen in CrewNerd.
  2. By tapping the QR code (which puts the URL in the clipboard) and sending the URL by email, text message, etc.

Using the viewer

The viewer includes a table showing all of the boats that are currently transmitting data under the same club name and password. The table can be configured to:

  • add or remove columns
  • change the data displayed in each column
  • sort the rows using the data in any column
  • make the text larger or smaller

The "map" tab in the viewer shows the location of each boat, and a "history" tab shows information about workouts and intervals that each boat has completed while tracking.

For more information about using the viewer, see https://crewnerd.com/gettingstarted.
