Display settings (Android)

The Row/Paddle screen in CrewNerd is designed to be very configurable. Too much data is overwhelming and difficult to read, and everyone has different ideas about what they want to see during a workout.

With CrewNerd, you can choose how much data you want, how it is arranged on the screen, and exactly which data fields are displayed.

Portrait or landscape mode?

CrewNerd can operate in both portrait and landscape mode (90% of users prefer portrait mode). All of the settings we describe here are maintained separately for each orientation. This means that you can have one layout for portrait mode and a completely different layout for landscape mode, and CrewNerd will silently switch between them when the phone orientation changes.

How many rows?

On Android, you can have anywhere from one data row up to 3 rows in landscape mode or 5 rows in portrait mode. To change the number of rows, go to the Row/Paddle screen and open the app menu. Select "Add row" or "Remove row".

Changing the height and content of a row

To change the appearance of a row, press and hold anywhere in the row you want to change. A "Row settings" screen will be displayed. At the top, you'll see radio buttons to set the row height to "Single" or "Double". When you make a row double-height, the other rows shrink to make room.

Below the row height setting are two spinner wheels where you can select the data to show in the left and right cell for the row. If you select "None" for the right cell, then the left cell will expand to fill the entire row.

When you are done making changes to the row, press the "Save" button to record your changes and return to the Row/Paddle screen.

Sunlight display mode

By default, CrewNerd uses a "white on black" style for the Row/Paddle screen. This is usually good for morning workouts. In bright sunlight, however, this can be difficult to read. To improve visibility in those conditions, the "sunlight display model" can be used to switch to a "black on white" display. On Android, this setting is in the "Miscellaneous" section of the settings screen.
